Vuyyuru Srinivasa Rao, the NRI, who organised a meeting in Guntur which led to stampede killing three women and injuring several others, is being glorified by the yellow (Telugu) media.
Eenadu chairman Cherukuri Ramoji Rao published a two-column story in praise of Srinivasa Rao on its Wednesday edition.
Ramoji Rao tried to project Srinivasa Rao as the social worker helping students, developing his motherland, and even running Anna Canteens offering food for the needy and poor.
Srinivasa Rao is an accused in the stampede case and is an aspirant for the TDP ticket for the Guntur West Assembly constituency for the 2024 elections.
The charges against him might be dismissed and he may not get convicted or might get convicted.
No matter when he will be released or sentenced for the stampede that took three lives.
But we have never seen a newspaper glorifying an accused, even as the case is in the investigation stage.
Going by the report in Eenadu, one wonders whether Ramoji Rao wants the Government of India to declare Padmasri or any other equivalent civilian award to Srinivasa Rao!
Guntur district TDP president and former MLA Tenali Sravan Kumar had secured clearance for the Guntur meeting held by Srinivasa Rao, proving the TDP’s earlier claims to disassociate itself from the event.
Srinivasa Rao started his “service” activities with an eye on the 2024 general election seeking TDP ticket.
Against all these facts, why did Ramoji Rao tried to glorify this NRI and why is he not following the same measurements with other accused in other cases!?
