It is an undeniable fact that Hyderabad has emerged as a health capital of India. No other city in the country has as many specialised hospitals as Hyderabad has and there is no hospital in the city which cannot offer a specialised treatment to the people in all ailments.
In fact, people from not only different parts of India, but also various parts of the world, come to Hyderabad for treatment to many incurable diseases.
A couple of months ago, All India Congress Committee president Sonia Gandhi’s daughter Priyanka Gandhi, along with her husband Robert Vadra, flew down to Hyderabad to get treatment to her son who got injuries to his eye while playing cricket.
The prestigious L V Prasad Eye Hospital at Banjara Hills provided treatment to the boy. Many Kashmiri youth who got pellet injuries in their eyes during violence also get treatment at this hospital. Such is the reputation Hyderabad hospitals have got all over the country and world.
But, Telangana chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao, who is said to have cataract problem, went all the way to New Delhi and stayed there for over a week to get treatment to his eye.
In fact, this is a very simple operation and any small time eye hospital in Hyderabad can do it. However, KCR went to Delhi to get the treatment for reasons known only to him.
There were reports that cataract was not the actual reason for KCR’s Delhi visit, but he had some political issues to be sorted out with the Centre; hence, he took such a long time to stay there!
