Prakash Raj to be CM face of BRS in Karnataka?

It has been a long time since one has heard about and seen popular villain-cum-character-actor of South Indian films Prakash Raj both in film industry as well as politics.

He has not been seen in Telugu films in the recent past and after the controversial elections to Movie Artistes Association, he was no where to be seen in Hyderabad.

Even in politics, Prakash Raj has not been visible, after making a brief appearance in the Telangana Rashtra Samithi politics for some time a few months ago.

He had accompanied KCR to Mumbai to meet former chief minister Uddhav Thackeray and Nationalist Congress Party president Sharad Pawar.

He also toured a few places in Telangana along with Indian Political Action Committee founder Prashant Kishor.

Subsequently, Prakash Raj was nowhere to be seen. Even when KCR announced the renaming of Telangana Rashtra Samithi as Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) on October 5, everybody including Karnataka chief minister Kumara Swamy was there, but not Prakash Raj.

At a time when everybody thought KCR has conveniently dumped the actor, he made a sudden appearance in the Telangana Bhavan on Friday at the official transformation of the TRS into BRS, following the approval given by the Election Commission.

Prakash Raj was actively seen moving around KCR, smiling and shaking hands with all leaders. This led to the talk that he is going to play an important role in the BRS in other states in the coming days.

According to sources, there is a possibility of KCR entrusting him with the party responsibilities in either Karnataka or Tamil Nadu.

“The chances of Prakash being made in-charge of the BRS in Karnataka are brighter, as he is from that state and has wider connections there,” a party leader said.

If he proves his capabilities in strengthening the BRS in Karnataka and expand its network, KCR might even declare Prakash Raj as the chief ministerial candidate of the BRS in Karnataka in the next assembly elections scheduled in May.

However, Prakash Raj is said to be interested in contesting the Lok Sabha elections from Bengaluru Central, where he had lost in 2019 contesting as an independent.

The BRS is expected to have an electoral understanding with Janata Dal (Secular) there, sources added.
