After jumping from the Congress into TDP, JC Diwaker Reddy expected to get royal treatment within the party. But due to lots of opposition from within TDP, JC is forced to keep a low-key profile and stay away from active participation as he is still looked upon as an outsider.
While he did lobby untiringly to get a ministerial berth in the union cabinet, the chances are bleak of his realizing that dream in the coming future. So, Chandra Babu who has promised to give some post or the other to his supporters has recommended him for the Parliamentary Standing Committee chairman’s post.
Meanwhile, the Congress party which could not get the leader of opposition post in Lok Sabha, managed to secure chairmanship of 5 Parliamentary Standing Committees. Incidentally, Rahul Gandhi is now the member of the Committee on External Affairs.
TDP’s JC will head the panel on Food and Consumer Affairs. But what has come as a blow to him is the fact that Congressman and his fellow Andhra politician T Subbirami Reddy has been made the chairman of another committee.
Many in political circles feel that only Subbirami Reddy could have managed the chairmanship despite being in the opposition party.
