If reports doing rounds in the media circles are to be believed, Kiran Kumar, chairman and managing director of Lalitha Jewellery, a popular jewellery shop chain which has several branches all over the country, is likely to join YSR Congress party shortly.
According to these reports, Kiran had met YSRC president Y S Jaganmohan Reddy during his tour in East Godavari district a few days ago and extended his support to the party.
Jagan is learnt to have invited Kiran into the party and it is not exactly known whether he would accept the offer or not.
The 46-year old jewellery merchant, though originally from Rajasthan, is now based in Chennai, but his success story began from Nellore, where he started off as a jewellery designer in 80’s.
He can speak fluent Telugu and is a well-known brand name in Andhra Pradesh. He is learnt to have taken up several philanthropic activities in Nellore. So, if he enters electoral politics, it would not be difficult for him to taste the success in elections.
Moreover, Kiran is financially very sound. The present turnover of his company is around Rs 15,000 crore and he is said to be aiming at a target of achieving Rs 50,000 crore turnover by 2020. So, it would immensely help the YSR Congress party, if such a big shot joins it.
It is not exactly known what is there in the mind of Kiran, but if the reports that he had met Jagan and supported his padayatra are correct, then there could be some truth in the reports that he would join the party and contest the elections.
