While the GHMC election notification is yet to be issued and elections are yet to be held, a rat race has begun in all major political parties to grab Mayor's post.
Incidentally, the sons and daughters of top political leaders are in the forefront for Mayor's seat.
These political heirs already started making swift moves to grab Mayor's chair with the help of political lobbying of their politically stronger fathers.
Former PCC president D Srinivas, who quit Congress and joined TRS few months ago has been pitching for Mayor's post to his daughter if, TRS wins the elections.
Similarly, TDP Rajya Sabha member T Devender Goud, has been lobbying Mayor post for his son T Veerender Goud, if TDP-BJP combine emerges winners. In 2014, Veerender Goud contested for Chevella Lok Sabha seat from TDP but lost to TRS.
Once a strong leader in Congress and former union minister P Shiva Shankar's son Dr P Vinay Kumar is also in the race for Mayor's post, if Congress manages to win the polls. Dr Vinay Kumar also contested from Musheerabad Assembly constituency in 2014 from Congress, but lost to BJP.
What is common for all these political heirs is that they hail from backward classes.
As per GHMC Act, the Mayor post has to be allotted to different sections of people rotation wise and this time it should go to a person from BCs.
