Yet another member of the Nara family appears to be showing interest in politics.
Actor Nara Rohit, son of the late Nara Ramamurthy Naidu — who was the younger brother of Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu — is reportedly focusing his attention on the Chandragiri constituency in Tirupati district.
There is growing buzz in political circles about Rohit’s political curiosity.
He is known to have close ties with his uncle Chandrababu Naidu and cousin Nara Lokesh, and sources say he enjoys the support and blessings of the family.
His father, Ramamurthy Naidu, served as the MLA for Chandragiri between 1994 and 1999, defeating former minister Galla Aruna. Reports suggest Rohit is considering carrying forward his father's political legacy.
It is also said that Rohit has been in touch with local TDP leaders and cadres in Chandragiri.
With nearly four years to go until the next elections, sources claim Rohit is carefully laying the groundwork behind the scenes, without making any public political moves just yet.
Lokesh is reportedly strongly in favor of a Nara family member contesting from Chandragiri, believing it would strengthen the family's foothold in their native region.
Chandragiri includes Naravaripalle, the ancestral village of Chandrababu Naidu.
Despite this, the Nara family has not been able to establish a strong political presence in the region, something that has long disappointed both Chandrababu and Lokesh.
While the TDP did win Chandragiri in the 2024 election, it was largely due to the alliance wave. Historically, the constituency has been a stronghold for the Congress and later the YSR Congress Party.
Given the current political uncertainty in the constituency, party members suggest it's better not to comment much on the ground situation.
Against this backdrop, Nara Rohit is said to be quietly stepping into the political space in his own style.
While his success in the film industry has been limited, many believe his political aspirations, especially with Lokesh’s backing, could soon find serious traction. And if that happens — who can really stand in his way?
