Jana Sena Party chief and actor Pawan Kalyan on Wednesday threatened to launch fast-unto-death for achieving special category status to Andhra Pradesh.
Just before closing his speech at the public meeting in Guntur, Pawan Kalyan said special category status had now become not just a demand but a matter of self-respect for the people of Andhra Pradesh.
“The Centre cannot get away just like that saying it is not possible to grant the status. We know how to achieve it. If necessary, I am prepared to launch fast-unto-death and sacrifice my life for the same,” he said.
He said there might be necessity for him to take up the indefinite fast and he was prepared for the same.
He asked the youth to focus on their studies and future and leave the agitations to politicians.
“I don’t want to give call to the youth to take to streets to do agitations and sacrificing of their lives. We are here to sacrifice for you. Leave it to me. I am ready to give up my life, if it fetches justice to the state,” he said.
