Pawan to play Kapu card in Andhra elections?

Pawan to play Kapu card in Andhra elections?

Hitherto, actor-turned-Jana Sena Party president Pawan Kalyan has not taken up the issue of Kapu reservation seriously, fearing that it might give him the stigma of being just a Kapu leader.

Several times, Pawan said he would like to represent all sections of people and that he was not confined to just community.

Nevertheless, he expressed support to Kapu reservations indirectly saying the Telugu Desam Party should fulfil the promises it had made in its manifesto.

At the same time, he also questioned the propriety of Kapu strongman Mudragada Padmanabham raking up the reservation issue only now, while keeping silent during the Congress regime in the past.

However, Pawan now seems to have realised that he has to take up the Kapu issue at least for the sake of elections, since it is going to become a crucial election issue in the elections.

According to political analysts, Pawan has two options before him: to join hands with Mudragada and go all out for the Kapu quota issue and secondly, take up the issue independently and neutralise the impact of Mudragada.

It appears Pawan has chosen the first option. He sent his maternal uncle Marishetty Raghavaiah to Mudragada on behalf of Jana Sena Party to discuss on the issue. They held preliminary round of talks on how to bring pressure on Naidu on the Kapu reservations.

In the second round that is likely to take place in the second week of February, Pawan himself might hold talks with Mudragada to work out the strategy.

Sources say if Pawan takes up Kapu quota issue, the community might not take him seriously as he ignored them in the past and it might not help the Telugu Desam Party in any way, which the power star wants.

If he joins hands with Mudragada, it would indirectly help the TDP, as YSR Congress party would lose the opportunity to cash in on the Kapu quota issue.

So, that is the plan of Pawan!
