Till the other day, there had been a talk that actor-turned-Jana Sena Party chief Pawan Kalyan had close association with the Telugu Desam Party, especially chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu and his family members.
He had also faced allegations from YSR Congress that his was not Jana Sena, but Bhajana Sena of the TDP.
But at his public meeting in Guntur on March 14, Pawan opened up and attacked the TDP and Naidu and even made allegations of corruption against his son Lokesh. By saying so, he tried to prove that he had no dealings with Naidu.
But on Tuesday, Lokesh himself disclosed, albeit indirectly that he and Pawan had been good friends and used to be in touch with each other over phone.
Reacting to Pawan’s allegations of huge corruption against him, Lokesh said Pawan should have directly called him to verify the allegations.
“After all, he has my telephone number and he used to be in touch with me in the past,” Lokesh told media.
The Andhra IT minister wondered why Pawan was making allegations now.
“In the last four years, he has never raised the issue of corruption with me. He did not make any allegations against me. Suddenly, he has attacked us. What is the reason? Only Pawan can tell,” he said.
Lokesh pointed out that Pawan had first alleged that I had close links with Sekhar Reddy.
“Later, he himself admitted in a TV chat show that he had levelled the allegation on the basis of what someone told him," Lokesh said.
He also took objection to Pawan’s comments that he had brought disrepute to his illustrious grandfather.
He said his father Chandrababu Naidu was working day and night for the welfare and the development of the state. Levelling allegations against such a person is sad. Pawan has no right to do this, he said.
