Recently, YS Jagan Mohan Reddy had announced that his party will win five seats in Telangana. He also created a sensation of sorts by announcing that he will start the Samaikyandhra yatra in Telangana.
When asked as to which seats they will win, the YSRCP leaders have disclosed that Malkajgiri is one of them.
As the time goes by, the probability of a Jagan’s family member contesting from Malkajgiri has increased.
This time around, many leaders have been eyeing this constituency which has a sizeable population of people from Seemandhra.
Many names are popping up right from TDP head honcho Chandra Babu Naidu to DL Ravindra Reddy. Now, the list includes the names of YS Vijayamma and Sharmila.
One of them is definitely going to contest from there, say sources close to YSRCP.
If they do, it is going to help Jagan in two ways. One, by winning a seat in Telangana, the party can get a boost in Telangana region and secondly, the constituency is full of people from Seemandhra.
In fact, 70 per cent of people are from Seemandhra. Also, of the 14 lakh voters here, 50,000 are Muslim voters. Another plus for Jagan is the presence of Reddys in the constituency. As per census, there are about one and half lakh Reddys here.
It goes without saying that 70 per cent of Seemandhra people are for Samaikyandhra. Jagan is planning that he can unite and make them vote for YSRCP based on the Samaikyandhra slogan.
Political observes feel that keeping all these factors in mind, Malkajgiri constituency will turn out be a prestigious seat for YSRCP.
