No tickets to children of sitting YSRC MLAs?

No tickets to children of sitting YSRC MLAs?

Even as Telugu Desam Party president N Chandrababu Naidu is planning to give 40 percent of the party tickets to youth, including sons and daughters of senior party leaders, YSR Congress party president and chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy appears to be going exactly in the opposite direction.

With elections to the state assembly just nine months away, several senior YSRCP leaders are reportedly approaching the chief minister requesting that the party tickets be given to their children this time.

For instance, Chandragiri MLA Chevireddy Bhaskar Reddy, Machilipatnam MLA Perni Venkatramaiah alias Nani, Tirupati MLA Bhumana Karunakar Reddy, Nandyal MLA Shilpa Chakrapani Reddy, Ongole MLA Balineni Srinvas Reddy, Panyam MLA Katasani Rambhupal Reddy, Yemmiganur  MLA K Chenna Kesava Reddy have put forth their requests before Jagan for the party tickets to their descendants.

Similarly, Rajya Sabha MPs Mopidevi Venkataramana and Pilli Subhash Chandra Bose are also lobbying for the YSRC party tickets for their children.

Some others who are making similar attempts are Tammineni Sitaram, Dharmana Prasada Rao, Pinipe Vishwaroop, Tippala Nagi Reddy and even Buggana Rajendranath Reddy.

However, Jagan reportedly told them categorically that he would not encourage dynasty politics in the party and the seniors would have to contest the elections again.

Even if some of them are fielded for Lok Sabha elections or drafted into the party work, Jagan doesn’t want to given the party tickets to their children.

“Only under exceptional circumstances, Jagan may consider two or three such requests, but only after assessing the winning prospects of the youngsters,” sources added.
