It has been four days since YSR Telangana Party president Y S Sharmila announced that her party would not contest the November 30 assembly elections in Telangana but would support the Congress.
She declared that she was extending unconditional support to the Congress because majority of the surveys indicated that the party has the chances of coming to power in the state and that she doesn’t want this pro-Congress vote to split, as it would benefit the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS).
Sharmila even wrote a letter to Congress MP Rahul Gandhi, stating that she was opting out of the contest so as to benefit the Congress in the assembly elections. She expressed hope that the Congress would emerge victorious.
But till now, there has been no response from the Congress.
Neither Rahul Gandhi wrote back to her expressing thanks for her kind gesture, nor have the local Congress leaders, including A Revanth Reddy, issued any statement thanking her for extending support to the party.
Even Congress candidate from Palair assembly constituency Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy, who she calls Sinanna, did not bother to thank her publicly for announcing that she would wholeheartedly support him in the assembly elections.
Sources said not a single Congress leader had called her so far, requesting her to campaign for the party in the elections.
As usual, she has confined herself to her Lotus Pond residence, squatting the flies and posting tweets!
