No Injustice To Talasani, Explains KCR

Changing the portfolio of a minister is the prerogative of a Chief Minister. He does not have to give explanation to anybody as to why he had to change the portfolios and why a particular minister had to be taken off from a department.

But Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao was forced to give an open explanation as to why he had to strip Talasani Srinivasa Yadav of his Commercial Taxes portfolio.

Speaking at the party’s plenary in Khammam district, KCR said no injustice had been done to Talasani in taking him off the Commercial Taxes portfolio.

“Talasani is the man of masses. He has to hold a portfolio that is closely linked to people. Commercial Taxes is not a people-oriented department. So, I had to shift him to Animal Husbandry and Dairy Development department, which has a direct connection with the people,” he said.

However, it is an open secret that the Commercial Taxes is a lucrative portfolio and KCR had been getting complaints from several traders and merchants as to how Talasani was harassing them for kickbacks. On the other hand, there is nothing much for Talasani to do in the Animal Husbandry department and it is just an eye-wash to link it to the people.

Apparently, KCR was getting the feedback that Talasani had played the BC card to embarrass the former. Within hours of the change in portfolio, several BC organisations accused the Chief Minister of insulting Talasani by removing him from Commercial Taxes department. That is precisely why KCR had to give a lengthy explanation at the plenary.
