Narasimhan To Quit?

Governor of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana States E S L Narasimhan is most likely to step down from his post, following intense quizzing by the Central Bureau of Investigation on Agusta Westland helicopter deal.

A team of CBI officials from New Delhi went to the Rajbhavan on Wednesday and questioned the Governor for about two hours over his role in the purchase of Agusta Westland helicopters.

Narasimhan was heading the Central Intelligence Bureau when the Rs 3,000 crore worth deal with Agusta was being negotiated.

He, along with the then NSA chief MK Narayanan and then SPG Chief BV Wanchoo, was present at the meeting in March 2005 to finalise the deal.

Sources said Narasimhan would be leaving for New Delhi later in the evening to put in his papers.

Narayanan, who was West Bengal Governor and Wanchoo, who was Goa Governor, resigned from their posts following the CBI questioning. And therefore, Narasimhan has no option but to quit, say sources.
