In order to benefit a few contractors, Chandrababu Naidu conceived the project of ‘Pattiseema’ which is absolutely unnecessary.
The Telangana government raised objection to this saying that the Godavari river on which the project is being constructed is an inter-state river.
Therefore, the Telangana State has to get additional allocation of Krishna water if Godavari water were to be diverted to Krishna through this project as per the Bachawat award.
In a surprising move now, the Telangana government has withdrawn all opposition to Pattiseema. The TRS in a clever move is trying to project it as a sign of Telangana goodwill towards Andhra which is utter nonsense.
The Telangana government has commissioned a number of mega-irrigation projects which would definitely not get approval from the Union government and especially Andhra for the arbitrary nature of their design and effect on water-sharing agreements.
KCR will now expect Naidu to withdraw opposition to those projects and Naidu may have to lest he be termed ungrateful.
Pattiseema might end up harming the interests of the Andhras in more ways than one, thanks to Naidu’s greed.
