Naidu signals sacking of at least four TDP MLAs

Telugu Desam Party president and Andhra Pradesh chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu is said to be preparing for tough decisions within both the government and the party, signalling possible disciplinary action against legislators who had allegedly crossed all limits in upholding the party discipline.

Naidu has reportedly expressed serious concern over the functioning of certain MLAs.

According to party sources, the chief minister recently held discussions with several legislators regarding their conduct and performance.

While some of them are said to have shown improvement after earlier warnings, Naidu indicated that strict action may be taken against those who have failed to change their approach.

Naidu held a special meeting with ministers Nara Lokesh, Anagani Satya Prasad, Vangalapudi Anitha, Kollu Ravindra, and Payyavula Keshav, where they discussed recent political developments and measures needed to address dissatisfaction among party cadre.

Speaking during internal party discussions, the chief minister said that disciplinary action against a few MLAs was inevitable if they did not correct their behaviour.

He revealed that about six months ago he had expressed dissatisfaction with the performance of nearly 40 MLAs. After issuing warnings, he said around 15 legislators had improved their functioning, but reports regarding the conduct of others continued to raise concerns.

Naidu indicated that four to five MLAs may soon face disciplinary action, adding that he would hold final discussions with them before taking a decision.

“If they do not change their approach, that meeting will be the last one with them,” he reportedly told party leaders.

He also emphasised that tough decisions would be taken ahead of the upcoming local body elections and future general elections, making it clear that the party’s victory would be the primary priority.

“The party cannot be sacrificed for individuals. If necessary, we will move forward even by dropping some leaders,” he reportedly said.
