Naidu Seeks To Pamper Kapus, Ignores BCs

Telugu Desam Party president and Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu is learnt to have decided not to let the Kapu community to go away from the TDP at any cost, even if leads to discontent among the Backward Classes.

After the Mudragada episode, Naidu reportedly decided to take up the issue of including Kapus into the BCs very seriously.

According to sources within the TDP, Naidu is likely to make an announcement by the next Independence Day on August 15. By this time, he would get the report from the Kapu Commission.

At the same time, he has instructed the officials to ensure that Rs 1,000 crore be allotted to the Kapu Corporation in the next budget.

Sources said the Cabinet meeting scheduled to be held on February 15 would focus entirely on declaring a series of sops to Kapus, so that they would be silenced till the Commission submits its report.

Though it would cause heartburn among the BCs, Naidu reportedly told the party leaders that the Kapu reservation issue would be resolved without affecting the existing quota of the BCs.

Let us see whether Naidu would be able to fulfil his objective and how it would politically benefit the TDP in the coming days.
