Naidu Says He Will Never Become PM!

Telugu Desam Party president and Andhra Pradesh chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu once again reiterated that he has no interest, whatsoever, in becoming the Prime Minister of the country.

Naidu made the statement, in reaction to the slogans raised in the party’s Mahanadu in Telangana held at Exhibition Grounds in Hyderabad on Thursday.

As he was speaking about the Centre’s injustice to Andhra Pradesh and alleged witch-hunting of the state and him, the party workers raised “PM” and “PM” slogans.

However, Naidu made it clear that he won’t become Prime Minister in his life time.

“However loud you shout the slogans, I have absolutely no interest in the post. I rejected the PM post 22 years ago. My whole objective is to make Andhra Pradesh No. 1 state in the country and I will strive for the welfare of Telugu people,” he said.

The TDP workers might have been carried away by the reports that Naidu is going to lead the federal front at the national level as was evident from his confabulations with all regional parties at Bengaluru on Wednesday.

West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee asked Naidu to take the lead in forming the federal front.

Though the TDP chief has been saying for quite some time that he has no interest in national politics, he has been, of late, advocating the need for the unity of regional parties to defeat the BJP at the national level. This led to the talk that he is evincing interest in national politics.

On the other hand, his Telangana counterpart K Chandrasekhar Rao openly declared his ambition to lead the country to bring in a qualitative change in national politics.

He challenged that he would prove the capacity of a Telangana leader to develop the state on all fronts. But, his efforts have not taken a shape so far.
