Telugu Desam Party president and Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandraababu Naidu is learnt to have come to the rescue of his party MP from Narsaraopet Rayapati Sambasiva Rao in connection with the allegations of misappropriation of funds in Polavaram works.
It may be mentioned that Rayapati’s company Transtroy had bagged the Rs 7,000 crore contract for construction of Polavaram project during the Congress regime itself.
However, the company did not execute any major works and instead, had faced allegations of pocketing the mobilization advance of Rs 1,000 crore as the State was under turmoil over bifurcation.
In the normal course, Rayapati’s company should have been blacklisted for misappropriating funds without executing the Polavaram works. But Rayapati is now in the TDP and he had apparently sought the help of party boss Chandrababu Naidu.
The latter is allegedly protecting Rayapati by searching for a sub-contractor to resume works at the earliest, so that the entire irregularity is hushed up.
