When Telugu Desam Party president N Chandrababu Naidu was the chief minister of combined Andhra Pradesh between 1995 and 2004, he used to prefer presenting the bronze images of Charminar to any guest visiting the state. And he used to promote Charminar, Ramoji Film City and Hyderabad biryani.
Now that all these icons and symbols of Hyderabad have gone to Telangana, Naidu changed his stand. He is now presenting portraits and idols of Lord Venkateshwara of Tirumala to any VIP guest visiting the state – whether he is a Central minister or a foreign dignitary.
Even if he goes to any other part of the country or abroad, he carried a few portraits of Lord Venkateshwara and presents them to the dignitaries. And he also does not forget to present Tirumala laddu to the guests.
Apparently, Naidu believes that Lord Tirumala would fetch him victory in all his endeavours, including elections. He starts his election campaign from Tirupati and quite often goes to the seven hills to pray the Lord.
He is of strong belief that it was Lord Venkateshwara who saved his life in the Alipiri Naxal attack. May be he thinks this pampering of the Tirumala lord would come to his rescue in 2019 elections, too!
