Naidu Not Keen On V-P Post?

Naidu Not Keen On V-P Post?

The political circles are agog with speculations that the name of Union minister for information and broadcasting M Venkaiah Naidu has been more or less finalised for the post of Vice-President of India.

The BJP parliamentary party is likely to take a decision to this effect later in the evening. Reports emanating from Delhi have indicated that the Bharatiya Janata Party leadership has zeroed in on Venkaiah for the V-P post.

The party is learnt to have felt that Venkaiah was the most suitable candidate for the post as he had huge experience of handling the Rajya Sabha affairs as its member and also parliamentary affairs minister.

Since he has good rapport with all the members, he will be the ideal choice for the Vice President post.

However, Venkaiah is said to be not very keen on accepting the post because he will be losing all his political charm.

If the becomes the Vice President, he will lose the liberty of making public statements and speeches in his typical style; he cannot take on the opposition parties aggressively and what is more, he will lose the opportunity of enjoying power as a union minister.

He has to keep his mouth shut most of the time and remain a dignified politician.

And above all, his political career will come to an end once and for all, as he cannot accept any other political post after completion of his term, except for being considered for the President post. It is almost like a political retirement for Venkaiah now!
