Within a day of Telugu Desam Party president and Andhra Pradesh chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu declared that his party is pulling out of the Narendra Modi government, if not the NDA, the Bharatiya Janata Party leaders in the state have decided to take the TDP head on.
As expected, former Union minister and senior BJP leader Daggubati Purandeshwari came down heavily on Naidu for making false allegations against the Narendra Modi government that it had turned a Nelson’s eye towards Andhra Pradesh.
She said it was wrong on the part of Naidu to blame it on the Centre for denying special category status to AP.
“In fact, Naidu himself said many times in the past that Special Category Status was no panacea to the state’s problems. He even said there was no additional benefit from the special category status, compared to special package. Now, he is talking about the special status only for political gains,” she said.
Purandeshwari pointed out that finance minister Arun Jaitely made it clear time and again that there was no possibility of granting special category status to AP after the 14th finance commission recommendations.
“We are committed to fulfil every promise made in the AP Reorganisation Act including railway zone, Kadapa steel plant and petroleum corridor one after the other,” she said.
The BJP leader also alleged that Naidu government had not submitted utilisation certificates to the funds released by the Centre for several projects.
“Where are the accounts for the money released for the capital Amaravati? Why did the underground drainage project in Vijayawada and Guntur come to a halt?” she asked.
