Naidu Dousing Revolt With Nominated Posts

With the tremendous success of YSR Congress party plenary that warmed up the political climate in Andhra Pradesh, Telugu Desam Party president and chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu hurriedly started filling up the nominated posts with a view to dousing rebellion in the party and preventing the disgruntled elements from jumping into the rival party.

As part of the appeasement move, Naidu nominated Vijayawada East MLA Mohammad Jaleel Khan as the chairman of Andhra Pradesh Wakf Board.

The MLA, who defected from YSR Congress party into the TDP, has been sulking ever since he was denied the cabinet berth during the last reshuffle.

While another minority leader Dr S Md Nouman is selected as the Chairman of the AP Urdu Academy, former MLA Ambika Krishna was made chairman of the AP Film, Television and Theatre Development Corporation.

Another senior TDP leader J R Pushaparaj, who was also not happy for being denied the MLC seat, was made Chairman of the State Food Commission.

Similarly, senior TDP leader Somisetti Venkateswarlu was appointed as Chairman of the Kurnool Urban Development Authority, while G Narasimha Yadav became the Chairman of the Tirupati Urban Development Authority.

Party sources say more disgruntled among the TDP would be appointed in the plum nominated posts in the coming days.

Apparently, Naidu is waiting for the announcement from the Centre on increase in the number of assembly constituencies, so that the competition for the nominated posts can come down and he can promise the MLA seats to others.
