Naidu apes KCR in publicity blitzkrieg!

Very recently, Telangana chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao came under severe criticism for spending public money lavishly on publicity for his government and for personal political mileage.

The way he released advertisements worth crores of rupees to newspapers and electronic media and spent huge amounts on hoardings on the occasion of hosting civic reception to Vice President of India M Venkaiah Naidu received flak from various quarters.

Now, his Andhra Pradesh counterpart N Chandrababu Naidu also proved that he is no way inferior to KCR in indulging in wasteful expenditure for publicity sake.

For the last three years, Naidu government issued advertisements worth hundreds of crores to the media, though it has hardly achieved anything on ground.

In the latest example, the Naidu government released front-page advertisements to all the major newspapers in Andhra announcing the felicitation of Venkaiah Naidu.

Naturally, there is a criticism as to what public purpose the felicitation to Venkaiah will serve with tax payers’ money.

Only recently that the Naidu government released huge advertisements in the media claiming credit for various programmes including Jala Siri (irrigation mission) to enlighten the people.

One can imagine how much money Naidu is going to spend on publicity in the next two years, as the elections are approaching.
