Modi Sings Jagan's Tune Of Decentralisation

Modi Sings Jagan's Tune Of Decentralisation

Chief Minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy had said when he took the oath on May 30, 2019 that the central government and other state governments should look at Andhra Pradesh for welfare and development.

Accordingly, he had promised and implemented innovative programmes in the welfare and development sectors in the last three years.

Several state governments are now adopting the Rythu Bharosa Kendras, Village Secretaries, Volunteers system and other programmes of this government.

Last week, Prime Minister Narendra Modi himself had announced development of government schools in the country on the lines of Nadu-Nedu in Andhra Pradesh.

Now, on Tuesday, Prime Minister advocated decentralisation of urban planning. He made this statement in his virtual address to the BJP mayors and deputy mayors.

The Prime Minister wanted decentralisation of urban planning and wanted more satellite townships and not concentration of everything in one place.

Interestingly, this is what Jagan Mohan Reddy had been saying in the state – Decentralisation.

Three capitals plan is part of this decentralisation of urban planning, where Jagan Mohan Reddy had distributed the three organs of democracy equally to the three regions of the state.

The opposition in Andhra Pradesh, the media and some intellectuals and members of judiciary, who are close to TDP chief N Chandrababu Naidu have been opposing this decentralisation and want everything developed in Amaravati.

Prime Minister Modi’s statement in favour of decentralisation had come handy for Jagan Mohan Reddy, while a bitter pill for the TDP and his allies.

As the Prime Minister propagates the decentralisation of urban planning, it is for sure the concept of Jagan Mohan Reddy’s decentralisation too would get boost.
