Bharat Rashtra Samithi legislative council member and Telangana Jagruthi founder Kalvakuntla Kavitha, who has been involved in a sort of shadow-boxing with her brother K T Rama Rao, finally opened up on her future course of action in politics.
In a candid podcast interview to a Telugu television channel, Kavitha said she would eventually become the chief minister of Telangana, after her father K Chandrasekhar Rao.
“As long as KCR is there, he will be the chief minister. After him, I will be in the race for the CM post. It may take five years or 10 years or even 20 years,” she said.
She categorically ruled out forming a new party, asserting that BRS remains her political home and that her future lies with it.
“It is my party. Why should I quit to form another party?” she asked.
Kavitha, however, acknowledged internal dissatisfaction within the party, accusing certain “demons” of damaging the organization from within. She warned that retaining such individuals could jeopardize the party’s future.
Referring to the reports that her phone and that of her family members were also tapped, Kavitha said it could have happened.
She, however, said her father might not be aware of it and it could be the handiwork of lower-level officials.
Kavitha also blamed her own party leaders for her defeat in the 2019 Nizamabad Lok Sabha elections.
She recalled her arrest in the Delhi liquor scam and criticized the party for abandoning her during tough times, expressing anguish over the lack of support from senior party leaders during her ordeal.
Looking ahead, Kavitha expressed her desire to contest as an MLA in the next elections and said she has been actively engaging with people in her considered political constituency, building strong grassroots connections.
She also revealed plans to revive her social service organization, Telangana Jagruthi, and expand its activities across the state.
