Milk Bath Culture Reaches Andhra, Too!

Milk Bath Culture Reaches Andhra, Too!

It appears the “milk bath” culture that is widely witnessed in Telangana is now gradually spreading to Andhra Pradesh as well.

The culture of conducting milk baths to the images and cut-outs of popular politicians and matinee idols had been confined to Tamil Nadu for long, but after Telangana Rashtra Samithi came to power in Telangana, this sycophantic practice has spread to the new state as well.

Deification of chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao by giving milk bath to his cut-outs and portraits, whenever he announces sops for any group, has been going on for the last couple of years.

Even journalists and Brahmins have started performing milk baths to KCR’s portraits for quite some time.

Now, the culture has come to Andhra Pradesh. On Sunday, several Kapu organisations owning allegiance to the ruling Telugu Desam Party, performed the cut-outs of party president and chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu in several parts of Guntur, Prakasam and East Godavari districts, for taking the decision to include Kapus in the BC list and provide them five per cent reservations. They burst crackers and distributed sweets for the bold decision.

This is something new to Andhra culture and was never seen in state politics. In fact, Naidu was fascinated by such milk baths in Telangana and even wanted that such milk baths take place in Andhra as well.

In the past, he asked the Brahmin corporation leaders frequently conduct programmes like “ksheerabhisekham” (milk bath) of the CM portraits on the lines of similar milk bath being done for the portraits of Telangana CM.

But previous Brahmin corporation chairman IYR Krishna Rao did not agree for it. Now, Naidu is getting his desire fulfilled with Kapu corporation leaders!
