Lakshmi Manchu, daughter of senior actor-producer and former MP M Mohan Babu, appears to be still undecided on joining the politics and contesting the next elections. As such, she continues to keep the media guessing as to what her political plans are.
Some time ago, there were reports that Lakshmi Manchu would be joining the YSR Congress party, because of her family relations with party president Y S Jaganmohan Reddy.
Many a time, Mohan Babu and Lakshmi had praised YSR and wished that Jagan, too, would scale new heights in politics.
Since Jagan has the backing of Dasari, who in turn happens to be the mentor of Mohan Babu, it was quite natural to speculate that Lakshmi would choose YSRC to enter politics.
However, it appears there was not much favourable response from Jagan towards Lakshmi. So, she started praising Chandrababu Naidu, his fitness and his administrative capabilities.
Adding to this, Mohan Babu also went to the residence of Naidu at Naravaaripalle in Chittoor district during his recent visit and had one-on-one talk with him.
This led to the talk that Lakshmi might join the TDP and contest from Chandragiri assembly constituency, while Mohan Babu might be given Srikalahasti MLA ticket.
Now, the latest talk is that she might join the Bharatiya Janata Party. She is learnt to have conveyed her intention to join the BJP because of the growing image of Narendra Modi, whom she considers an ideal politician.
She, along with her father Mohan Babu, met union minister M Venkaiah Naidu and had a lengthy talk recently.
The BJP, too, wants such dynamic young leaders who also give glamour touch to the party. If she joins the BJP, it will also help the TDP in many ways, say sources.
