Lokesh Emerging Alternative Power Centre?

Lokesh Emerging Alternative Power Centre?

It looks like Telugu Desam Party general secretary and Andhra Pradesh IT minister Nara Lokesh is gradually emerging as an alternative power centre in the Telugu Desam Party, taking advantage of his father chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu’s busy schedule in the administration.

On Thursday, Lokesh held a meeting with 40 of the TDP MLAs to discuss their personal as well as their constituency-level issues which need to be attended to immediately.

Since Naidu is too busy to look into their issues, he entrusted the task to Lokesh to talk to the MLAs directly to understand their problems, so that there would be a favourable atmosphere in the TDP before the next elections.

At the same time, Lokesh is also planning to take suggestions from senior MLAs on correcting the weaknesses in the party so that the party would be able to tackle the opposition in the next elections.

Many TDP leaders say it is a welcome development, as they need a platform to express their grievances. Since Naidu is busy, they are all approaching Lokesh now. This will also help him gain a grip over the party so that he would emerge as a full-fledged and mature leader at least by 2024, if not 2019, they say.

However, if Lokesh emerges as alternative power centre and starts defying his own father, it would lead to chaos in the party. Since he is not very experienced, there is every possibility that he would ruin the party prospects, another set of TDP leaders say.
