Loan waiver: KCR gives jitters to Naidu

Loan waiver: KCR gives jitters to Naidu

The Telangana government will not go in for rescheduling of crop loans of farmers as was planned by the Telugu Desam Party government in Andhra Pradesh. It would go in for waiver of crop loans.

This was revealed by Information Technology Minister K Taraka Rama Rao on Tuesday. He clarified that the Telangana government was not rescheduling the agricultural loans taken by the farmers, but it was waiving them off.

Addressing a meeting organised by the FICCI here, KTR said that the government was taking serious steps to waive off the farms loans. He said that the government was holding consultations with the officials concerned to fulfill its promise. He said that the government would soon come out with a final announcement on the farm loan waiver.

KTR’s announcement would certainly be an embarrassment to AP chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu, who is trying to wash off his hands by announcing rescheduling of crop loans. Now, he would be compelled to go in for loan waiver to retain his credibility.

Ponnala expressed dismay at the non-receipt of an invitation or a communiqué of holding the meeting by Jana Reddy. In an interaction with media on Tuesday, Ponnala said he did not know about the meeting.

“I am not aware of any such meeting”, he maintained. However, with total confidence, he said none in the party can take on him. “Not any big leader in the Congress can take on my moral strength and goodwill”, he maintained.
