It appears stage is getting ready for the re-entry of former Vijayawada MP Lagadapati Rajagopal into active politics. His so-called followers have started raising the demand for his return to politics of late.
On Saturday, Lagadapati attended a meeting to condole the death of a Congress worker Bezawada Youhan at Kandukuri Kalyana Mandapam in Vijayawada.
A large number of Lagadapati’s followers, who came to the meeting, raised slogans in support of the former MP, asking him to come back into politics. Lagadapati did not respond, but wished them with a smile.
Interestingly, all those followers were still Congress party workers, but Lagadapati was suspended from the Congress party long ago.
In fact, he had quit the active politics after the combined Andhra Pradesh was bifurcated. So, there is no way Lagadapati will come back into the Congress party which has lost its base completely in Andhra Pradesh.
Recently, there were speculations that Lagadapati might join the Telugu Desam Party, after he met TDP president and chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu and praised his efforts to build Amaravati and Polavaram.
And Naidu also reportedly helped him out by agreeing to purchase power from Lanco Kondapalli Power Plant, though its utility period is over.
If Lagadapati joins, all his followers still in the Congress party, also might join the TDP.
