KTR avoids Kavitha on Raksha Bandhan, Sharmila silent

Raksha Bandhan is a festival which reflects the strong bonding between a brother and his sister. Though there might be differences between them for any reason, a sister comes to the house of the brother to tie Rakhi and seek his blessings.

But in the Telugu states, there seems to be absolutely no such bonding between the brothers and sisters in the two separate political families – as that of YSR Congress party president Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy in Andhra Pradesh and BRS working president K T Rama Rao in Telangana.

In a recent interview to a television channel, BRS legislative council member Kalvakuntla Kavitha declared that she would go to her brother K T Rama Rao’s house to tie Rakhi.

“Relationship is different from political differences,” she said.

But on Friday evening, Kavitha sent a message to KTR stating that she would come to his residence tie Rakhi to him.

KTR did not reply to her immediately, but on Saturday morning, he left a crisp message saying he was not in Hyderabad and hence, not in a position to meet her.

Kavitha said she had been told that her brother was in Bengaluru and had messaged her that he was unavailable in Hyderabad.

But she did not disclose whether she sought his blessings at least on phone and whether he had blessed her at least on WhatsApp.

In Andhra Pradesh, too, the situation is similar. Y S Sharmila, Andhra Congress president, preferred to stay away from her brother Jagan on Raksha Bandhan day.

Since they are not in talking terms, they did not even converse on mobile or on WhatsApp, sources said.
