KCR to issue show-cause notice to Kavitha?

KCR to issue show-cause notice to Kavitha?

Now that Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) leader and Telangana Legislative Council member Kalvakuntla Kavitha has openly revolted against the party leadership, her suspension from the party appears imminent.

According to sources, party president and former chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao (KCR) is preparing to issue a show-cause notice to Kavitha, asking her to explain why she violated party discipline and made internal matters public.

“Whether she responds to the show-cause notice or not, her suspension is inevitable. Kavitha is reportedly anticipating such a move and is fully prepared to chart her own political course,” sources said.

Though Kavitha appeared to be targeting her brother and BRS working president K T Rama Rao (KTR), her remarks during Thursday’s press interaction suggest that she was also indirectly criticizing her father, KCR, for yielding to KTR’s pressure tactics.

While indirectly blaming KTR for the leak of her May 2 letter to KCR — raising several critical issues — Kavitha also hinted that her father himself may have leaked the letter to damage her politically.

She noted that she has been writing letters to KCR for the past 25 years, and questioned why this particular letter was leaked: “He used to tear my letters immediately upon receiving them. How did this one make it outside?”

Her claim that a conspiracy still exists to merge the BRS with the BJP was also seen as criticism of KCR.

“Even while I was in jail, there were proposals to merge with the BJP. I told my father not to make a hasty decision. I was prepared to stay in jail for not just six months, but even for years,” she said.

In her letter, Kavitha also questioned her father’s silence on the BJP during the BRS Silver Jubilee public meeting in Elkaturthy on April 27.

“You spoke about the BJP for only two minutes. This created strong speculation among party cadres about a possible alliance with the BJP,” she wrote.

Kavitha declared that she is as strong-willed as her father: “If KCR is ‘thikka’ (crazy), then I am also ‘thikka’.”

She warned BRS leaders not to take her lightly, saying, “If I start speaking openly, you won’t be able to handle it.”

These statements are likely to provoke KCR, who is known for being intolerant of internal dissent. Sources say he is now preparing to issue a show-cause notice to his own daughter.
