KCR To Dump MIM After GHMC Polls?

KCR To Dump MIM After GHMC Polls?

Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao, who has been hobnobbing with the Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen for the last few months and pampering the Muslims with the promise of 12 per cent quota and praising of the Nizam rule, might dump the latter after the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation elections.

According to sources, KCR is planning to follow the strategy of the Congress party in getting a foothold in the GHMC with the MIM support. It might enter into pre-poll alliance with the Majlis and share the power for the next five years. During this period, the TRS will make all efforts to lure the other party Corporators, so that it would get the majority.

If the TRS gets good number of seats, more than the MIM, it would dump the alliance with the MIM and might gradually tilt towards the Bharatiya Janata Party before 2019.

It would mean KCR wants to hit two birds at one shot: to reduce the BJP to second or third position, while the MIM would lose its initial advantage. But whether the saffron party will allow KCR to have such an advantage remains to be seen.
