Coming down heavily against TRS leadership for luring the Congress MLCs with a ‘package’ and encouraging defections, former Ministers DK Aruna and J Geetha Reddy today urged Council chairman to disqualify Congress MLCs for defecting to TRS.
They alleged that eying Council chairman’s post, the TRS was encouraging defections.
“It is unfortunate the leaders have joined the TRS, even before nine months of their term without resigning from the Congress or informing party leaders, who tried to dissuade them. Taken aback at senior leaders like KR Amos and Indrasen Reddy defecting to the TRS, they sought to know why they took such a harsh decision.
The Congress leaders pointed out that Amos used to claim that he is a “10 Janpath Man”, while Indrasen had frequently said he had “Congress blood” in his veins as he is follower of Sanjay Gandhi. Jagadishwar Reddy from Mahbubnagar too left a scar on the Congress by doing so, they lamented.
“Amos should tell us which party gave statehood to Telangana despite pressures and why he chose to switch his loyalties”, they asked.
The leaders should have resigned to the MLC posts and Congress party before joining the TRS, they said.
