KCR has no interest in electoral politics?

It appears Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) president and former Telangana chief minister K Chandrashekar Rao (KCR) seems to be losing interest in electoral politics.

It has been quite some since one has seen KCR in active public campaigning and electoral outreach.

In December, KCR came out to address the party meeting at Telangana Bhavan, where he announced that he would return to active public engagement and lead protests over Telangana irrigation projects such as the Palamuru-Rangareddy scheme.

The BRS leader addressed a press conference, where he said people would see an active KCR once again and he would “skin” the Revanth Reddy government.

The BRS leaders announced that KCR would address a series of public meetings in districts like Nalgonda, Mahabubnagar, and Rangareddy.

But, surprisingly, KCR has gone back into shell and kept away from the public, confining himself to his farmhouse at Erravelli. Only on the day of the SIT interrogation last week, did KCR was seen in public.

Since the Congress government led by chief minister Revanth Reddy came to power, the BRS has raised several issues—from the Vikarabad radar project to coal block allocations—but KCR was nowhere to be seen in this campaign, and every time, only his son K T Rama Rao and nephew T Harish Rao were seen.

The party has not sustained consistent mass movements on any single major issue. KCR has made only limited appearances, including brief visits to the assembly and to attend inquiries or offer condolences.

With municipal elections underway, opposition voices question why KCR has not actively appealed to voters or campaigned for party candidates despite being the party chief and a former chief minister who once harboured national ambitions.

“Public engagement is essential for any leader seeking enduring recognition, suggesting that prolonged absence from grassroots politics weakens claims of mass leadership,” an analyst said.
