Kapu Agitation: Yet Another Deadline!

Kapu Agitation: Yet Another Deadline!

Former minister and Kapu strongman Mudragada Padmanabham, who has been in a bitter battle with Telugu Desam Party government in Andhra Pradesh headed by N Chandrababu Naidu over inclusion of Kapus in Backward Classes, has given yet another deadline to the government on fulfilling the demand.

Mudragada on Thursday dashed off letter to the chief minister saying that he had lost patience in fighting for the implementation of Kapu reservations.

He wanted a categorical statement from Naidu on implementation of the promise for inclusion of Kapus among the BCs before May 7.

“If there is no response from your government before this deadline, I have no option but to step up the agitation,” he said.

Mudragada reminded that it was Naidu who had promised to include Kapus among the BCs before the elections.

“It was also included in the election manifesto of the TDP. It is his responsibility to implement the election promise.

Even the Supreme Court has recently directed that the political parties should implement their election manifestos in letter and spirit, once they come to power. You have to follow the Supreme Court directive,” he said.

The Kapu strongman demanded that the Naidu government invite the Kapu representatives for talks on the implementation of the quota before May 7.

“If we get the invite, we shall send five of our representatives for talks. If there is no response from the government, we will have a meeting with all Kapu groups and decide on the future course of action in stepping up our agitation,” he warned.

Accusing Naidu of trying to suppress the Kapu agitation using brute force, Mudragada cautioned the Kapu community to be aware of Naidu’s tactics and put up a united fight to achieve their demand.
