Jagan Skips Rahul Meet, Under Attack

YSR Congress party president Jagan Reddy, who expectedly avoided attending the public meeting convened by the Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee at Guntur on Sunday, came under attack for compromising on the special category status to Andhra Pradesh.

Several leaders like Samajwadi Party president and former Uttar Pradesh chief minister Akhilesh Yadav questioned Jagan for holding secret meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and extending his party support to the BJP in the Presidential elections.

“If you think the Prime Minister will come to your rescue by supporting the BJP, you are mistaken Mr Jagan. Modi will not leave you and will hound you,” Akhilesh said.

The former UP chief minister said Jagan should have put a condition that he would support the BJP in the Presidential elections only if the Centre granted special category status to AP.

“Why did you compromise on the issue? Even TDP led by Chandrababu Naidu should support the BJP candidate only if the Centre grants special category status,” he demanded.

CPI national secretary Suravaram Sudhakar Reddy, too, questioned Jagan for supporting Modi, who was trampling upon the rights of Dalits and Adivasis.

“Jagan should give an answer to the people for his volte face,” he said.

The other leaders felt that Jagan should have attended the Guntur meeting to prove his sincerity on the special category status.
