Jagan Indefinite Fast From Sept. 26

Hyderabad: Leader of Opposition, YS Jagan Mohan Reddy will undertake indefinite fast from September 26 at Guntur demanding special status to Andhra Pradesh.

The decision was taken at a high level meeting held at the Party central office here on Wednesday, party Deputy floor leader Jyothula Nehru told reporters here.

As the State has failed to mount pressure on the Centre, in spite of being its coalition partner and the Centre going back on its word, YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, after a two-day fast at Mangalagiri, one day dhrna at Delhi and one day State bandh has decided to go on indefinite fast at Guntur pressing for the issue, he said.

Ridiculing the TDP Government for boasting of inter-linking of Godavari and Krishna rivers, he said the exercise is only a mirage. Even without completing the works, the Pattiseema project was dedicated to the nation which is absurd.

After the announcement on August 15, water has hardly reached Denduluru and it is a long way for linkage, he said adding that the pipelines were not fully laid and there are no water storage facilities.

TDP leaders claiming that linking of rivers has been the long cherished dream of Chandrababu Naidu would cut no ice as he never spoke of the issue while he was chief minister during the earlier tenure.

The concept is not his brainchild and there are many pioneers on the issue. Starting from Sir Aruthur Cotton to YSR many have worked on the concept. Jalagam Vengal Rao and NTR had also worked on the issue as well, he said.
