Hyderabad Liberation Day: Cong scores a point

Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee president Ponnala Lakshmaiah on Wednesday asked Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao to explain as to why the State Government did not celebrate the Hyderabad Liberation Day officially.

Speaking to media persons after hoisting the national flag at Gandhi Bhavan, Ponnala said that there should have been official celebrations of the anniversary of merger of Hyderabad State with Indian Union. However, by not conducting any official function, KCR gave birth to new controversies. Therefore, he demanded that KCR explain his stand on the issue immediately.

Earlier, Ponnala, Leader of the Opposition K Jana Reddy and other Congress leaders paid rich floral tributes to Mahatma Gandhi and Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.

They lauded the role played by Sardar Patel in the merger of Hyderabad State with Indian Union.
