When YS Jagan was released on bail during the T-agitation, Seemandhra cutting across Party lines erupted in joy for the people honestly felt that Jagan would stall the bifurcation of the State.
Months later, their hopes were dashed as Jagan remained a silent spectator to the division sparking allegations that he had reached a compromise with Sonia Gandhi to come out of jail.
Nevertheless, Jagan put up an impressive showing in the polls and would have even come to power but for the late entry of Pawan Kalyan who got the ‘Kapu’ community to vote for Naidu.
Today, Jagan once again has an excellent opportunity to win the credibility of the people by taking up the cause of the farmers in the controversial ‘land pooling’ issue.
Naidu is going ahead at breakneck speed on this issue signing agreements left and right with foreign governments detrimental to the interests of AP.
Naidu has also indicated that the farmers have no other option than to give up their lands and flouting all constitutional norms in the process.
While the YSRCP in principle has assented to the construction of a new capital, it need not support the acquiring of fertile lands for the capital.
The noise made by the ‘Opposition’ so far hasn’t been sufficient enough to derail Naidu.
The farmers are fighting a lone battle and without any concrete support, they can’t hold out much longer!
Jagan by taking up the cause of the farmers in an active fashion like his father YSR will endear himself to all. Otherwise he will have lost out on a golden opportunity!
