For KCR, Journos Are Equal To Junior Assistants!

Telangana Rashtra Samithi president and chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao always makes tall claims on rewarding those who had fought for separate Telangana state.

Among those are Telangana journalists who played a key role in highlighting the Telangana movement at the national and international level and braved the police repression during the agitation.

Soon after coming to power, KCR promised that journalists from Telangana would be given plots to construct own houses, health cards for getting free treatment in corporate hospitals and concessions in travel in public transport. But even after two and a half years of his rule, nothing has materialised completely.

Last year, he had a marathon meeting with the journalists and promised them that he would lay foundation stone for the journalist colony at Budwel, where a 100-acre government site had been identified.

The journalists were on cloud nine and they even did “palabhishekam” (anointment with milk) of KCR photograph. Subsequently, KCR forgot the promise and the journalists were shocked to know that the land meant for them was being given to software companies.

What is worse, the journalists were categorised on par with Class IV employees, including record assistants, in the allotment of house sites.

After a lot of protests, the KCR government is now considering them including in the category of junior assistants (lower division clerks) and allot them plots of not more than 200 square yards or flats of not more than 1200 sq ft. This was against the original promise of giving 300 square yards plots or 2000 sq ft of flats.

That is KCR!
