A recent statement by former YSR Congress Party general secretary and ex-Rajya Sabha member V Vijay Sai Reddy has triggered intense political speculation both within political circles and on social media.
In a post on his official X (formerly Twitter) account on Friday, Sai Reddy firmly denied reports suggesting that he had made remarks against YSRCP president Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy, including claims that Jagan would be arrested in the alleged liquor scam before June 10.
“I have never spoken in a manner that would harm him, even after leaving the party due to differences,” Sai Reddy wrote.
He also clarified that he harbored no animosity towards any political party or leader, stating, “There are no behind-the-scenes conspiracies or fake statements from my side.”
His statement has sparked speculation that Sai Reddy, after his failed attempts to join the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), might be softening his stance in hopes of returning to the YSRCP.
Reportedly, the BJP has shut its doors on him to avoid straining its alliance with TDP president and Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu.
There are now rumours that Sai Reddy is sending out feelers to Jagan, signaling a desire to return to the YSRCP — despite Jagan’s past accusations that he had “sold out” to Naidu.
Interestingly, since Jagan made that statement, Sai Reddy has refrained from speaking against him.
Sources claim that Sai Reddy may be hoping for a political comeback, especially as those he accused of conspiring against him — retired IAS officer K Dhanunjay Reddy, OSD Krishna Mohan Reddy, and most notably Raj Kesireddy — are now in jail in connection with the liquor scam.
“Jagan might also see the value in bringing Sai Reddy back, given his deep understanding of the YSRCP’s organisational structure,” one source said. “If he is offered a respectable position and his political dignity is restored, he might be willing to return.”
However, insiders close to Jagan caution that reconciliation may not come easily.
“Once a leader loses Jagan’s trust, it is extremely difficult to regain it. Let’s wait and see whether there’s any possibility of a patch-up, if these speculations hold any truth,” the source added.
