After kicking up a controversy by raking up north-south divide on the appointment of non-Telugu IAS officer Anil Kumar Singhal as the executive officer of the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD), power star and Jana Sena Party president Pawan Kalyan took a U-turn on Wednesday.
Unlike in the earlier occasions, Pawan did not make any statement, but got a statement issued by his party leader B Mahender Reddy to defend him.
“Pawan’s statement is misunderstood. He has not opposed the appointment of Singhal as the TTD executive officer.
What he demanded was why Telugu IAS officers are not being appointed as authorities of northern temples like Amarnath, Mathura and Varanasi. How can anybody find fault with him?” Reddy asked.
He said people who doubted the patriotism of Pawan Kalyan should make introspection on their own patriotism.
“Nobody can question Pawan’s love for the country and its integrity. Before making statements condemning Pawan, they should understand his spirit and make efforts to do equal justice to the Telugu people,” Reddy said.
