Kukkanur, Velurapadu, VR Puram, Chinthanur, Koonavaram, Bhadrachalam (excluding Bhadrachalam temple) and Burgmpudu mandals of Polavaram were merged with Andhra Pradesh after bifurcation.
Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu said he had made it clear to Narendra Modi at that time that if the seven mandals were not merged with Andhra Pradesh, he would not take up his duties as Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh. This is a really strange boast by Chandrababu Naidu.
Why should Narendra Modi care if he became CM or not? Also, assuming that what Chandrababu says is true, why did he not give the same ultimatum to Narendra Modi over the special status issue?
What if Modi had refused the merger of the mandals also citing a technicality?
