DLR Meets Naidu, May Join TDP!

Senior Congress leader from Kadapa and former minister D L Ravindra Reddy is most likely to find his political rehabilitation in Telugu Desam Party.

DLR, who met TDP president and Andhra Pradesh chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu at Amaravati on Thursday night, is understood to have got the nod from him to join the TDP.

Though Naidu has given him a tentative assurance on the party ticket to contest from Mydukuru assembly constituency in Kadapa, there is no confirmation yet on the same.

Earlier, DLR tried to join YSR Congress but the local leaders did not accept the proposal to give party ticket to him.

As a result, YSRC president Y S Jaganmohan Reddy announced the name of sitting MLA Raghurami Reddy as the party candidate from Mydukuru constituency for the forthcoming assembly elections.

Jagan told DLR’s followers that it was not possible to give MLA ticket to him.

“If he joins the party, we will respect him and give him the MLC seat. If it is okay for him, we are ready to admit him into the party,” he said.

However, DLR declined the offer saying it was an insult to him.

“I have been in politics for the last four decades and had been a six-time MLA. How can I accept MLC seat? I am ready to join any party that gives me respect and MLA ticket,” he asserted.

Consequently, DLR met TDP and got the assurance. However, it is yet to be known whether he would face any resistance from Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams trust board chairman Putta Sudhakar Yadav who is also aspiring for Mydukuru seat.
