Come clean first, Shah tells Revanth!

Till recently, there were reports in a section of media and social media that Telugu Desam Party legislator from Kodangal and party’s working president in Telangana A Revanth Reddy was going to join the Bharatiya Janata Party. Apparently, he was not happy with the internal wrangling in the party and the fall in his importance in the party.

The state-level BJP leaders have taken up Revanth’s case strongly with the national leadership. Since he is from powerful Reddy community, his entry would definitely help the party in the next elections, they felt.

However, sources said, the national leadership, which initially evinced interest in admitting Revanth, put spokes at the last moment. Reason: Revanth is still facing the charges in cash for vote case, involving luring of an independent MLA with money so as to make him vote for the TDP in the MLC elections a couple of years ago.

BJP national president Amit Shah reportedly told the state BJP leaders that Revanth should first come clean in the case and only after that he could be taken into the party. If he is admitted into the BJP now, it would bring bad name to the party, he felt.

As a result, Revanth stayed put in the TDP and got re-elected as the TDP working president in the recent reshuffle of the TDP.
