Both Naidus Enacting Big Drama

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu and Union Urban Development Minister M Venkaiah Naidu are enacting a big drama on special category status and release of Central funds to the State.

This was stated by former Congress MP Vundavalli Arun Kumar on Monday. He wondered what kind of “coordination” Chandrababu Naidu was having with the Union Minister in securing benefits to the State as promised in the AP Reorganisation Act.

He alleged that the AP State has fallen into budget deficit and Venkaiah Naidu, who had asked the Centre to release Rs 10,000 crore immediately, was now keeping quiet.

“The Centre did not even release a single rupee though the Chief Minister sought Rs 18,000 crore. The BJP leaders, who said there would be no taxes for 10 years and special status would be granted to AP to attract industries, were now covering their faces in the name of Neethi Ayog and 14th Financial Commission”, he said.

He also said there should not be any link between package and special status and explained that the special status would provide exemption in taxes and package would help in providing infrastructure.
