Telugu Desam Party president and Andhra Pradesh chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu’s statement that the state was not getting the promised funds from the Centre for various projects on time has angered the Bharatiya Janata Party leadership in New Delhi.
Instead of making a direct attack on Naidu, the Central BJP leaders pitched his sister-in-law and former union minister Daggubati Purandeshwari against him and made her pull him up. And Purandeshwari, who is always waiting for an opportunity to take a dig at Naidu, used it fully.
She told media that if there was a delay in release of funds by the Centre, the blame should go to none other than Naidu himself.
“The TDP government does not submit any accounts for the money given by the Centre and doesn’t give an explanation as to how much money was spent on which scheme.
Take for instance, the funds released for Polavaram project. So far, the government has not shown proper accounts for the money spent on the project.
What is worse, it has changed the contractors at will but not shown the records as to how the outgoing contractors had spent the money,” she pointed out.
Even with regard to the construction of capital city Amaravati, the Naidu government had not shown the money released by the Centre properly, she alleged.
